Sibling Mentors
A child’s illness does not affect the child alone, but the entire family. Usually most of the parents’ attention is dedicated to taking care of the sick child, and siblings often feel themselves neglected as a result.
That’s why Or Menachem has made it its mission to support the siblings by coupling them with mentors to keep them company and help the family in any way possible. The mentors are responsible for staying with the siblings while their parents are away with the sick child, helping them with school assignments and taking them out for various activities.
In addition the mentor is constantly under the close supervision of the project’s coordinator, who in turn offers guidance and support to deal with any need that may arise, and ensures the mentors are able to help in every way possible.
