Accommodation
Today, in Israel, more than five hundred children with cancer receive chemotherapy treatments at day centers without hospitalization. Some once a week and some have to come twice or even three times a week. But in many cases the children’s families don’t live close by, and therefore are forced to travel to the medical center very early in the morning. This burden is intensified when there’s heavy traffic on the way, or when the family doesn’t own a car, in which cases getting to the medical center becomes a major inconvenience.
Easy arrival & a good night’s sleep
We know how difficult these trips can be, but at least we can help with the logistics. That’s why Or Menachem has launched the “Accommodation Project,” providing sick children and their families an easier solution, with fully equipped apartments located near hospitals and various medical centers.
The apartments all meet high standards, and include everything from closets to washing machines, in order to provide for every possible need. Families can arrive a night before the treatment and have a good night’s sleep so necessary for the next day’s treatment, and we also have volunteers taking care of any issue that may arise during the stay, to make this as convenient as possible.
