365 Days of Good Deeds
Our volunteer fleet is active 365 days a year, including week days, holidays and weekends. These dedicated volunteers mainly operate in children wards in three major hospitals: The Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer, the Dana-Dwek Children’s Hospital in Tel Aviv and the Schneider Children’s Medical Center in Petah Tikva.
We celebrate every holiday and make sure these children enjoy some holiday spirit, even in the hospital. To give just a few examples, on Hanukkah our volunteers light candles, hand out jelly doughnuts and organize parties; on Tu Bishvat they go out to plant and hand out dried fruits; and on Purim we bring over volunteer clowns and make-up artists, and of course, hand out delicious gift baskets.
We see it as our duty to celebrate birthdays and special occasions, even for those confined to their beds. Our volunteers ensure every child in the ward gets their occasion celebrated with everyone else in the ward, including the nurses’ staff.
And if that’s not enough –
We also organize performances and visits by various artists and celebrities to make these children smile.
Taking care of these children’s needs and dreams to give them just a few moments of joy, requires a lot of efforts and resources. But it certainly pays off when doctors report that our work has helped some of these kids’ progress, where nothing else has worked. And for our teams, this is the greatest grace of all.
